1.5GHz dual-core HTC Sensation XE due in September

The speedier, longer lasting HTC Sensation is finally here, in the form of the Sensation XE, also known as - the first HTC Beats Audio-equipped phone.

The HTC Sensation XE bears a faster 1.5GHz CPU on the same MSM8260 chipset (with Adreno 220 graphics) as its predecessor. It also has a larger 1,730 mAh battery, rated to deliver up to 9 hours of talk time. The rest of the specs remain the same as the Sensation, including the 4.3-inch S-LCD qHD display. It will ship with a choice of 8GB of 16GB microSD card onboard.

That is of course, excluding the fruits of the Beats Audio partnership – bundled Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, a remote control, and a specially optimized sound profile for ‘studio quality audio’.

HTC has yet to reveal the pricing of the Sensation XE, but has announced its launch in late September in Asia and other territories.

Nokia E6 business and X7-00 entertainment Symbian Anna phones launched in India

Nokia has officially launched the Symbian Anna-based Nokia E6 and X7 smartphones in India, at a press conference in New Delhi yesterday. Nokia India had celebrities Gul Panag, Soha Ali Khan, Diandra Soares and Sagarika Ghatge as brand ambassadors, chosen to represent "Anna with their grace, style & elegance.” For more details about the improvements in Symbian Anna as an update to Symbian^3, check out our previous coverage of the new features.

The Nokia E6 business Touch & Type phone was listed for pre-order on the Nokia India site back on June 15th, and is now on shelves at a price of Rs. 18,679 (MRP), though it should already be retailing for a little less than that. Boasting a 2.46-inch capacitive touchscreen with a surprisingly high resolution of 640x480 pixels, the E6 comes with the E-series QWERTY keypad, 8GB of built in storage, a 600MHz ARM11 processor and graphics accelerator, an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash, USB-on-the-Go support, 3G/Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity, a document editor, as well as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Communicator Mobile and Microsoft SharePoint support. For more details about the device, check out our previous coverage.

The Nokia X7 entertainment phone has been priced at Rs. 22,829 (MRP). Bearing a 4-inch Nokia ClearBlack Display, the capacitive touchscreen phone has an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash as well. The X7-00 is certainly a good looking device, with a slim, sharply angled body that is built out of stainless steel body. It sports the same CPU-GPU as the N8, with a 680MHz ARM11 processor and Broadcom BCM2727 graphics. Also featuring USB-on-the-Go support, the device has 3G/Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity as well. Check our previous coverage for more details of the Nokia X7-00.

Also announced at the event was the timeline for the Symbian Anna update being rolled out for older devices, like the N8, E7, C7, and C6-01, which is expected to be complete by the end of August.

Nokia quietly unveils updated Nokia C5-00 phone

Nokia has continued to churn out new handsets and update the older ones. The latest mobile phone from Nokia is C5-00 5MP. Even though Nokia did not make any formal announcement or hold any press event like it does normally, the new phone has already started to create buzz worldwide.

As the name suggests, C5-00 5MP has a 5 mega pixel camera with an enhanced depth of field (EdoF) sensor, and is similar in spec with C5. However, the enhancement is not restricted to just camera only. The internal storage has been increased from 50MB to 270MB, while RAM has been increased to 256MB. The handset runs on Symbian S60 OS and has all other high end features.

The C5 5MP has Bluetooth and FM Radio and preloaded apps like Ovi store, Facebook and YouTube. In addition, the screen size is 2.2 inches with a display resolution of 240x320 pixels (QVGA). The 3G device is expected to arrive in later this summer. No word on pricing as yet.

HTC Evo 3D launched in India for Rs. 35,990

HTC has launched its 3D smartphone – HTC Evo 3D – in India today, and it will be available across HTC stores in the country at a market operating price of Rs. 35,990. A glasses-free 3D orautostereoscopic offering like the LG Optimus 3D, HTC has evidently taken a hint from LG’s pricing in India, undercutting the earlier entrant by a little over a grand.

There are plenty of differences on paper between the two 3D devices from HTC and LG, such as the Evo 3D’s 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor and Adreno 220 GPU instead of Optimus 3D’s 1GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor, with PowerVR SGX540 GPU, on the TI OMAP4430 chipset.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo leaks, sports a 1.4GHz dual-core CPU and 4.5-inch screen

Wynncom OGO O-77 Konnect – QWERTY social-networking phone

The O-77 Konnect makes a strong statement with a good social-networking platform to integrate multiple networking apps like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Picasa under one roof. Its ability to produce appealing music with both the handsfree and loudspeaker makes it more appealing to the music buffs. Adding a good optical trackpad, display and a decent camera into the mix, the O-77 Konnect becomes a good multimedia phone. At a price point of Rs. 4,499, we have very little to complain except for the ordinary QWERTY keypad. We have not seen a phone with better feature set in this price bracket. However, if you want a better QWERTY phone with similar specifications then you should get the Samsung Chat 322 or the Nokia X2-01 around Rs. 3,500. If you are not too much of a messaging maniac then the O-77 Konnect is definitely worth buying.
