After Samsung launched Corby series, Nokia too entered the low budget touchscreen market with its Nokia 5230 XpressMusic. As the name suggest, it is a dedicated music phone and boasts up to 33 hours of non-stop music playback with a single charge, which is really good for that matter. This stylish quad-band GSM full touchscreen music phone features a screen size of 3.2-inch with 16M colors TFT display.
For protection against scratches, the phone comes with aluminium side panels that add additional durability against wear and tear. It comes with a built in dedicated audio chip for enhanced music performance. It features Music slider handset that enables instant mode switching between music player, FM radio and phone idle mode, which is not very common amongst the smartphones. Moreover, the media player supports all major audio formats including MP3,AAC, AAC+ eAAC+ and WMA. The 3.5mm audio jack enables you to plug-in your favourite iPod earphones with this device.
The 2.0 Mega pixel digital camera is studded with features such as auto focus, 4x digital zoom and integrated dual LED flash for capturing images under low lit conditions. Nokia 5230 Xpressmusic supports Handwriting recognition, and the Proximity Sensor automatically turns off the display according to the usage, thereby lowering the power consumption. Further, there is one touch access to all major social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and Myspace.
Nokia also offers some other additional applications and games including Calculator II, World Clock II, Opera mini (browser), Yahoo Go!, Widset installer, Nokia Visual radio, Nokia Search, Nokia Sensor, City Bloxx, Music Guess, Rally 3D and Snake II. By far, this phone is a pretty tough competitor for low budget smartphones.
